SOUTHLAKE, Texas - One of the most respected high school football programs in the country is looking for a new coach.

In a tweet Sunday night, the district announced it had reached a resolution with head coach Hall Wasson and accepted his resignation.

A copy of the settlement obtained by FOX 4 outlines the settlement between Wasson and the district.

The coach will get $165,000 to buy out his contract through June of next year.

Carroll ISD will post the job opening for a new Southlake Carroll High School head football coach soon.

Wasson was placed on paid leave last month and the district launched an investigation into possible violations of University Interscholastic League rules.

Carroll ISD forwarded a list of five alleged violations to the UIL, including unauthorized coaching of athletes during the offseason.

Wasson's attorney has always said there's another side to that story, but the coach can't comment until he officially leaves the district on March 1.

"I would like to thank my legal counsel for standing in my corner,” Wasson said in a written statement. “I remain incredibly proud of our Dragon football program. We did things the right way--with dignity, honor and respect."

As part of the settlement, the superintendent must give Wasson a letter of recommendation if he goes out for a new job.

In his 11 seasons leading the Dragons, Wasson compiled a record of 121 wins with just 26 losses. He also led the school to the state title.

At a school board meeting Monday, the Carroll ISD board will discuss the duties of the new head football coach.
