John Creuzot gained a nearly 10-point early lead over Elizabeth Davis Frizell for the Democratic nominee for Dallas County District Attorney.
Republican and current Dallas County DA Faith Johnson ran unopposed.
In the race for Dallas County sheriff, three Democrats are competing for the open position that was left open when longtime Sheriff Lupe Valdez resigned to run for governor.
Dallas County commissioners picked Chief Deputy Marian Brown to serve as interim chief and currently has the lead over Precinct Four Constable Roy Williams, Jr. and Eland Sigler.
Brown gave her acceptance speech early in the night. She acknowledged the fight is not over and asked her supporters to gear up for November.
"I want you to know that I don't take you for granted tonight. I don’t take for granted anything that you have done, however big or small. It does not matter,” the interim chief said. “Thank you because you thought enough of me to do it. For this, I want to tell you all thank you.”
There are two Republicans in the race for sheriff. Former Sheriff’s Deputy Aaron Meek is in the lead with 68 percent of the vote. He is ahead of current Detective for the Sheriff’s Office Chad Prda.
